Dr. Wayne Clark
Dr. Clark knew he wanted to become a
veterinarian by the time he was ten
years old. He was working with his
uncle at his uncle’s stable and would
watch the equine veterinarian pull in to
treat the horses. He thought – this would
be so cool – a job working with animals
and being able to be outside helping
and healing animals.
He followed his dream and went on to
graduate from UC Davis School of
Veterinary Medicine in 1973. Prior to
attending Davis, he spent four years at
Cal Poly Pomona with a double major –
chemistry and zoology. He wanted to
be prepared for veterinary school so once
he was there he could dedicate 100% of his time studying veterinary science.
This proved to be a very wise decision and as a result, he was able to spend much more “hands on” time in veterinary studies once at UC Davis. He thoroughly enjoyed his time in school and was sought out by professors to assist in surgeries and other procedures. He first concentrated on large animals, but during the summer between his junior and senior year, he had a fabulous opportunity to work in a small animal practice. He went back to school his senior year with his energies dedicated to small animals such as dogs and cats. As a senior, he bypassed the surgical abilities of other students and became a favorite with the professors.
It is very difficult to say exactly what a favorite area is when someone loves their job as much as Dr. Clark does! If he had to specify favorites surgery and interacting with clients would be the two at the top! Since clients only see the results in the health of an animal – they don’t know what a good surgeon he is – only his staff can truly appreciate this talent. It is very important to him to spend time with the pet owners – he wants to discuss practicing proactive treatments – the condition of the animal – the history of the animal and what possible means of treatment a client may want. He is ever balancing his time between surgery and client visitations.
It is very important to Dr. Clark to build relationships with his clients as well as treating their pets. He could never be only a surgeon – he enjoys interacting with the people too much! When discussing treating animals, Dr. Clark is very fulfilled with helping animals. Whether it's saving a dog that may have had no chance due to the size and nature of a tumor to simply making an unhealthy pet healthy – when a pet is saved and he sees the happy owner – it makes it all worth while. He knows he has made a difference in the life of that pet and also in the life of the pet’s owner. When the owner shows appreciation for their pet’s health being turned around, it gives Dr. Clark so much satisfaction. Being a veterinarian is a very rewarding experience to him and he loves what he does.
Dr. Clark has been practicing veterinary medicine for 31 years during which time he had set a number of goals. In the beginning, he was a one-man show being the only veterinarian in his practice. As his clientele grew, he knew to be able to spend the amount of time he wanted to with each client he would need to hire additional veterinarians to assist in his practice. He has been very selective as he expanded his staff and as a result has a team of experts that he feels confident are the perfect choice in which to include in his practice. In the last few years many of the goals have come to fruition. He wanted to expand his clinic into a bigger and more functional facility – which is what it has become today.
He wanted to be surrounded with extremely talented veterinarians and great technicians. These individuals needed to be compassionate, practice excellent medicine and be ethical. Dr. Clark is more than pleased with the staff that supports him and his practice. As a result of the practice growing into what it has grown today, he has become a better businessman/manager. His goals have been realized and he is pleased when he looks at his medical career growth over the past 31 years.
Dr. Clark is happily married with three daughters. He enjoys spending his spare time outdoors with his family. They go on camping trips, accompanied by their faithful dog Ricky. They go hiking, sailing, horseback riding and occasionally - a little surfing. What is important to Dr. Clark at this point in his life is dedicating quality time to his family and enjoying the fun they have together.

Dr. Stiles
Dr. Stiles knew she wanted to a veterinarian since
age 9. She grew up with two dogs and wanted to be
their doctor. When she was at the veterinarian’s
office at one point she told her mother she wanted
to be a doggie nurse. Her mother told her, “No, you
could be the doctor!” She graduated from Colorado
State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and
Bio Medical Science. She chose that school to be
in a more rural area that would allow her, in her
personal time, to be able to enjoy the outdoors by
hiking and camping as well as other outdoor activities.
Dr. Stiles enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian.
If she had to pinpoint a favorite area, she specifically
enjoys internal medicine. From running blood work to
viewing x-rays, she enjoys getting a full
understanding of what is happening inside the pet so
that she has a more comprehensive look into what
may be going on with that animal. She is also quick
to point out how much she enjoys interacting with
the pet's owners. At Chino Hills Small Animal Hospital,
she has found a real team effort with the staff.
The veterinarians all work together to discuss the various cases and identify the best course of action for each pet. Going forward, some day she would like to have her own practice with the support of her husband who has a strong management background. When she first graduated, she had no desire to have her own practice. The experiences at Chino Hills Small Animal Hospital have given her new insight to her professional potential. Not to worry though – she is not looking to leave the clinic for many, many years!
Dr. Stiles is married to her high school sweetheart and has three children. Many of her clients watched her through her pregnancies and now enjoy hearing about her children as they grow. Mr. and Dr. Stiles outdoor hobbies have now turned into enjoying family time. Family time is so important to Dr. Stiles, she is fulfilled being a mother, a wife – and of course – a veterinarian.

Dr. Gonzales
Dr. Gonzales didn’t always know she would be a
veterinarian – she did know however, she would have a
career with animals. She wanted a professional career in
which she could support herself – and being a veterinarian
was a perfect choice! She graduated from UC Davis School
of Veterinary Medicine. What she most enjoyed – outside
the academics – was the country setting where the school
was located. In her senior year she split her time between
the Small Animal Clinic, where dogs and cats were
treated, and the Large Animal Clinic, which treated farm
animals such as horses, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.
When asked about her favorite part of practicing veterinary
medicine – she smiles and shrugs – “All aspects”, she
replies – she just loves being a veterinarian. As she talks
about her career with animals she reflects on all the
animals she has treated. Every time an animal becomes
healthy she feels fulfilled. She enjoys watching the puppies and kittens come in as young animals and grow into mature and healthy adult pets. It is important to her to make a difference in people's lives and to keep treating pets. She wants the pets to have a comfortable life, and in doing so, also makes the pet's owners comfortable as one goes with the other.
As far as Dr. Gonzales’ personal life is concerned, previously, she enjoyed showing goats. More currently, however, her goals have switched from the show ring to the environmental ring. She and her husband are involved with pilot program in which goats are used for weed abatement. This is a much more natural approach to brush control opposed to using pesticides and other less natural methods. Utilizing the goats in this capacity is financially feasible for local governments and environmentally sound. Dr. Gonzales is married and the mother of two children.

Dr. Brauer
Not surprisingly, Dr. Brauer knew she wanted to be
a veterinarian since she was a child. She has always
loved animals and grew up with quite a menagerie.
She had dogs, birds, hamsters – all the usual pets
an animal loving child is thrilled to have. Dr. Brauer
remembers taking her hamster to the veterinarian due
to an infection. She has quite an affection for all furry
animals and isn’t surprised at all when hamsters or
mice are brought in for medical treatment - and now,
she is the doctor and on the other side of the table!
Dr. Brauer grew up in the beautiful state of Illinois
and attended the University of Illinois College of
Veterinary Medicine. She also received her
undergraduate degree from the same. Part of her
first job out of veterinary school was a staff veterinarian
for a wildlife care clinic in addition to running a
community practice for small animals. She has
independently raised and released a number of
fledglings. As a veterinarian, she currently treats
injured wildlife in addition to domestic pets.
Helping animals is her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine. She is happy to treat anything with fur and prides herself in always offering the best care and quality treatment she can possibly give. No patient is less important in her eyes – be it a hamster or a dog – they are all someone’s beloved pet. She enjoys the variety of species and doing a little bit of everything when it comes to veterinary medicine.
As far as what is in store down the road for her, it is important to Dr. Brauer to make a difference in people’s lives and to continue being the best she can be as a veterinarian. She wants all her clients to know they are important and that their pets are important to her too.
She is happily married to a veterinarian who is a board certified equine surgeon. They met in veterinarian school and now reside in Chino Hills and both work in the immediate area. They own two cats named Bella and Rudy, along with their dog, Abby. All their pets are rescued who had been abandoned and needed homes.
